Commodore is on the comeback trail...

My first introduction to a computer, way back when, was a go on a Commodore Pet when I worked at one of the public water utilities. At the recent CeBIT exhibition in Germany they announced a return to the PC business with the launch of four new 'gaming PC's', so I'm sure all you nostalgic veteran gamers will have to check them out. They appear well spec'ed with top processors and graphics, but will they find a niche in the already crowded gaming market?

Baufritz Eco Homes are the future!

I have just returned from an invite to go and see the erection of the first UK house for a german eco friendly house company, Baufritz. The house is a traditional style, located in Trevone, Nr Padstow, Cornwall with four bedrooms plus an extensive basement with additional living accommodation. The position of the property was stunning with great views out to sea and when completed will be quite superb. The exterior and interior walls are lifted into position and fixed on to the concrete basement having being manufactured to the highest quality finish in the german factory. There are numerous eco additions you can have including solar panels, rainwater harvesting, grey water systems, heat exchangers, wood burning heating systems etc. the list is endless.
This is definitely the future and the UK needs to wake up to this style of construction and learn to work with companies like Baufritz who have nearly 40 years of experience with this method of construction. I've just got to find my dream plot now!!

Take a look at my site or alternatively check out the Baufritz site or even come and see them at Excel London for the Grand Designs Live show on 6 - 8 June 2007, where you will be able to tour one of their houses.
Fancy watching free TV online, take a look!

There's plenty of television broadcasts on the web so as a result you're now seeing some cool websites springing up that show you where you can get your tv fix! The best one I've found so far is WWiTV which has over 2,300 channels, selected by language, country or alternatively common categories like Kids, Lifestyle, Movies etc.
It's certainly not the prettiest web site you'll see, but with it's high number of channels on such a wide range of subjects it is a great starting point. The site uses the key Media Players; Windows Media Player, Quick Time or RealPlayer so make sure you have the latest versions installed.

Have you found any other sites out there?
Try this web site for clear money advice..

There's a minefield of finance jargon out there, so it's refreshing when you come across a site that offers financial advice that's impartial, clear and jargon-busting. The site is MoneyMadeClear and has been put together by the Financial Services Authority(FSA) - the UK's financial watchdog. It has clear advice on all sorts of tricky money problems, from mortgages to pensions and investments to equity release. There are also useful tools and calculators to assist you, but watchout for the Financial Healthcheck, you might not like the result!
Remember that "if you look after the pennies the pounds will look after themselves"....my old man's favourite financial ditty.
The news sites on the web appear to set a benchmark of web design and function and there is no one better than Time ,which having been recently introduced to , I'm now a avid fan! It started 2007 with a new facelift and is very easy to navigate and get news from around the world. Prominent headlines take centre stage and blogs, rss feeds, podcasts and great images make this a top site to bookmark. Keep up with world events as they happen in our media rich lives....
Help! how do I undelete my files?

It's so annoying and I'm sure that we've all done it at some time. I've come across some software that will hopefully help you recover them. It's called Undelete Plus and is a great insurance against losing deleted files. Download and install it now, ready for the time it's needed rather than wait when you might risk the chance of overwriting your all important file whilst installing. Give it a go, it might save the day!

If you are looking for a good alternative to the professional products such as Photoshop look no further than this collection of free image editing programs:
Irfanview - isn't the most slick looking tool but has some useful features
Irfanview - isn't the most slick looking tool but has some useful features
Paint.net - has a raft of powerful creative features with a really cool interface
Picasa - a Google tool with great features including CD burning and web publishing.
I know that there are more programs out there, but these are my selection and the ones that stand out in the crowd. Enjoy using these tools and let me know if there's another one I should be looking at!
Create your own cool online database for free!

Just stumbled across a really cool free online database called Lazybase. Whether you've got a large book, CD, DVD collection or member's list this could be the answer, allowing you to share it with the community. You can add manual entries to your database or do a quick import from Excel or have visitors contributing via your website or blog. The information can be accompanied by ratings, descriptive keywords and relevant details plus it can be distributed via an RSS feed. I like this tool, give it a whirl and let us know what you think!!
