If you are looking for a good alternative to the professional products such as Photoshop look no further than this collection of free image editing programs:
Irfanview - isn't the most slick looking tool but has some useful features

Paint.net - has a raft of powerful creative features with a really cool interface
Picasa - a Google tool with great features including CD burning and web publishing.
I know that there are more programs out there, but these are my selection and the ones that stand out in the crowd. Enjoy using these tools and let me know if there's another one I should be looking at!
