It's that time again! Christmas, over-hyped and over here...The thoughts of slogging and queuing in all the department stores is just too muich to bear! Thank god for the internet! One quick spin on Pricerunner to check out the best prices, a jump to the old favourite Amazon and pop round the corner to Argos, a browse through CD-WOW and the job is 80% done, 45 mins in total! Fantastic, cards and wrapping to add and the jobs a good'un. Phew another Xmas shop over without any hassle...Happy shopping online today !!

Well it's not long now before the great release of Vista, the XP replacement operating system from Microsoft. It's taken approximately five years of coding plus countless thousands of hours of developer time, not to mention numerous builds, betas and user testers the world over pulling their hair out when the system crashes or freezes. There are so many questions to ask of Vista, but is it going to reliable? will it perform or is it going to be another bloatware from MS?
I'll certainly take a look but won't be upgrading for the sake of it!

I've just recently upgraded my desktop to a Core Duo powered machine which really is a step up from the early Pentium 4. It's the business! What's this, I read from Intel, a new "quad core Core 2 Extreme QX6700 ('Kentsfield') will begin shipping in time for the holiday season."
The chip race continues with AMD unabated and where will it all end! Intel claims the quad cores, which are essentially two dual cores sandwiched on the same chip, will give some applications as much as a 70% performance boost. The only trouble is that the software is having to play catch-up so there's not much out there that will be able to utilise that level of power.
Mankind will always strive for faster, better tools so bring it on!! I look forward to upgrading again in three years time when this will probably be a slow old version...
